Fly-boarding – the new craze
It looks like fun and it sounds exciting! The truth is that fly-boarding has gained popularity among those adrenaline junkies. The very first Fly Board World Championship took place in Doha, Qatar in 2012. So there is really a craze about it and more and more people are trying their luck.
A Flyboard is basically a water jetpack attached to a water scooter. The water scooter provides propulsion for the rider to perform all types of jumps and tricks while being jet-propelled above the water. The collection of these stunts is what is known as flyboarding. The flyboard was invented in 2012 by Franky Zapata, a French watercraft rider.
It may look like fun but the truth is that it requires some practice, pretty much like any other sport. However, and according to its creator, it does not take long for one to being able to learn. Once a person gets the hang of it, they can go as high as 30 ft. with no problem. It has grown in popularity in very short time. Since it was first introduced to the market in 2012, over 2500 units have been sold.
Can this be considered an extreme sport? Competitors don’t fall from crazy heights but they do get to perform crazy and exciting stunts while in the air. These definitively require certain level of dexterity and agility.
